Closing of BR 22/23

On December 6th, the Borderland Residencies invited all participating artists, residency hosts, programme partners and friends to their last get-together in 2022. With its magnificent eleventh-floor-view over Düsseldorf and the Rhine, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands opened its doors to visitors and guests from all over the Dutch, Belgian and German borderlands. Painted in beautiful pinks and oranges from the setting sun, the Borderland residents presented their works in a moderated talk.

As the artists shared their residency experiences, a mental map unfolded: a map of the borderlands, and of its people and landscapes. And now, after three months of Borderland Residencies 2022, new dots and pins can be found on that map. Together, they add up to the unique face of the borderlands. And they are signposts: They point visitors to the hidden nooks and crannies of an EuRegion that becomes more and more an epicentre of an international art scene.
