THREE, TWO, ONE… AND OFF WE GO!
What started as an idea in 2019,
finally celebrated its grand opening
on the weekend 04/05 September:
the Borderland Residencies!
Together is still the most fun. That's why all scholarship holders as well as the creative minds of the project came together for the opening weekend, got to know each other and experienced not one, but two cultural landmarks of the Borderlands: Ringenberg Castle and the Museum van Bommel van Dam in Venlo.
From 4 p.m. onwards, the official opening programme took place. The professional conditions in the art scenes of the neighbouring countries were one of the many topics that were discussed that afternoon.
The two-hour-programme could be attended at Ringenberg Castle as well as via ZOOM.
It gave an introduction on the residencies, the scholarship holders and the project partners. A panel discussion on "The art of living from art" with Judith Kleintjes (artist), Oliver Gather (artist) and Lene ter Haar (Cultural Officer of the Consulate General of the Netherlands, Düsseldorf), moderated by Peter Grabowski (der kulturpolitische reporter) rounded the programme off.
The following dinner concluded an eventful day with fine food and pleasant conversation before the next morning’s trip to the neighbouring Netherlands and the Museum van Bommel van Dam in Venlo.
The newly designed museum building had been opened this very weekend - and with the associated residency programme
"Nieuwe Uitzichten", the Borderland Residencies reminded everyone of their original idea: to look at the old familiar with new eyes, to discover unknown aspects of the region and to create great things through joint effort.
With this in mind, we wish all those involved a successful start of their Borderland Residencies! Let’s work together!
