Ateliers Höherweg e.V. is a collective studio space in Düsseldorf that was founded in 1994 by local artists. Their initial idea was supporting each other in setting up the necessary studio structure. The spacious studio complex also allowed for a guest studio with an accompanying flat. This opened up an opportunity to invite artists from abroad in an uncomplicated way to spend two to six months in Düsseldorf and to present their work to the public at the end of their stay. Regardless of age, medium or nationality, the guest studio is open to everyone. Over the years, an international platform has developed that nowadays is an important contribution to Düsseldorf's cultural life, with great independence from art-world trends.
