Borderland Residencies 24-25 celebrated its opening on September 2rd at Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, internationally renowned as a multidisciplinary research institute for art, design and reflection.

Once again the field trips offer insights behind the art scenes and provide intersectoral impulses at neuralgic locations, opening up the region's potential as a space for reflection against the backdrop of global crises, challenges and threats. Whether climate change, armed conflicts or growing hostility towards democracy - in the Borderlands, global issues are viewed from multiple perspectives in a regional context with international guest artists and in dialogue with science and local citizens. Borderland Residencies is pleased to announce the group exhibition SPEAKING SOIL, April 10 - June 2, 2024

Zhixin Angus Liao, Darcy Neven, Nico Pachali, Silke Schatz, Rosa Vrij, Finn Wagner, Marit Westerhuis at Sammlung Philara, Düsseldorf.

Borderland Residencies 2023-24 celebrated their closing on December 7th with a tour through Weltkunstzimmer and their residency programme as well as a dinner party and film screening at Ateliers Höherweg, Düsseldorf.

A vibrant landscape of art institutions and residencies in different countries and yet in close proximity to each other: this is what the Borderland Residencies stand for. In November, they crossed borders to visit Eupen and Heerlen.

Where three countries meet, unexpected art treasures are waiting to be discovered: in and around Maastricht, the Borderlanders not only visited renowned art institutions, but immersed themselves in secret underground worlds.

How often do we think about the ground beneath our feet? The Borderland Residencies 2023 dedicated two excursions to the topic and invited participants to dig deep in "Art and Soil I and II".

Borderland Residencies celebrated its opening on September 3rd at Ludwig Forum for International Art in Aachen. The city in the heart of Europe is a first time project partner, as are neighbouring Eupen in Belgium and the Drawing Centre Diepenheim in the Netherlands.
