Site and location

The work and exhibition space is the former lodge of the Fabrik Heeder, located near Krefeld's main train station in the city center. It is intended to serve as a base for research trips, a meeting place, a studio, and a storage space for the development of art projects. Thanks to its large windows, the installations can be viewed by the public.
Due to its past, Krefeld is often referred to as the “velvet and silk city.” In the 1960s, the textile industry gradually left the city, creating a visible gap between its rich history and its sometimes impoverished present. Krefeld seems to be in the midst of an identity crisis. This may be a challenge for the city and its inhabitants, but for artists it is interesting and inspiring.
