Discipline
sculpture, 3D animation, video
I’m working in the fields of sculpture, video and 3D animation. My approach is to overcome the physical borders of material and its history by creating an understanding of the materiality that occurs between different media. I use seductive and immersive 3D videos to make complex content accessible. These videos are either in direct contact with physical materials or change the cultural perception of a material or symbol in space.
Through the control and creation of materials, history can be changed and new possible futures can be formulated. Turning time into fossils makes it plastic. I develop theory by thinking through material processes, like crystallization. It develops into a strategy to burst rigid, social structures.
Year of participation
2023
I’m planning a project about bogs and marshes and how humans have destroyed or created these systems. The bog is a mystical place for transformations, an archive of the long dead, and a breeding ground for extraordinary survival strategies. I’m aiming to derive tactics that can help resist hard, oppressive structures in society. The moor is historically a place for special life forms and individuals, where people were buried or executed. I preserve history by bringing it back to the surface and allowing present structures to sink in. The narrative of reality and fiction, like peat in the bog, is meant to heal rather than frighten.
