artists in residence 2021
The three-month residency starts on September 1st and ends on November 30th 2021. Artists who take up a residential studio at the castle are asked to stay in Ringenberg for the duration of the residency. With its spacious residential studios, the residence center offers unique conditions for testing agile forms of work, interdisciplinary exchange and interaction with the local community. cc Ringenberg #2 is a scholarship program of the city of Hamminkeln and part of the program DRITTE ORTE. It is organized, curated and connected by the Kulturraum Niederrhein e.V. in cooperation with the NRW Landesbüro für Bildende Kunst and the Frauenkulturbüro NRW e.V.

Ringenberg Castle is a water castle in the city area of Hamminkeln in North Rhine-Westphalia. It stands in the southeast of the district of Ringenberg, to which it gave its name. As a residence site, the castle is not new, until 2018 it was managed as such by the Derick Baegert Society. Since 2019, Ringenberg Castle has been in a process of self-discovery and reorientation. Thanks to the support of the state program »DRITTE ORTE - Häuser und Kultur« (»Third Places - Houses and Culture«), since 2020 a social meeting place joins the high culture of the scholarship holders.
The cc Ringenberg #2 scholarship addresses transmedial and participatory artist collectives and project groups that want to explore the interaction of art and current social challenges in the discourse of co-production. cc Ringenberg #2 anchors with the local people and is a central component of the reorientation of the castle as a DRITTER ORT. Whether temporary project communities, long-term collectives or young initiatives – in 2021 the focus is on the collaborative art production.
A spartanly equipped residential studios (70-100 m2) with bathroom and kitchen (max. four), two presentation rooms in the residence center with a huge garden.
Additional information
Co-producers and invited experts who do not can make temporary use of a guest apartment by arran- gement. Project assistants support the organizatio- nal and communicative processes. If required: childcare in a local daycare center (please note in the application) support in finding local partners, regional manufacturers and production sites.

Every year June 15th
Applications are open to artists and curators in interdisciplinary collectives and project groups who live, work or were born in North Rhine-Westphalia or in the Euregio border region. There is no age limit. Re-application for former scholarship holders is excluded.
Applicants are requested to submit the following documents:
A completed application form
A short project outline (max. 3000 characters) describing the thematic focus, the artistic research
interest, the planned working group and its participatory working method
CV with exhibition list of the last five years
