KOMUNITAS GUBUAK KOPI
Komunitas Gubuak Kopi is an art and media study group, established in 2011, and based in Solok City, West Sumatra. This group conducts research and development of community-based art and media knowledge in response to regional issues. Komunitas Gubuak Kopi produces and distributes media literacy knowledge through artistic practices, organizes collaborations between professionals (artists, writers, and researchers) and residents, develops alternative local media, and builds a space for increasing the capacity of young people in Solok, namely Rumah Tamera Hub.
In 2017, Komunitas Gubuak Kopi created the Daur Subur platform as a major theme, a study of the culture that developed in the agricultural community of West Sumatra. This study explores narratives about the history and values of local wisdom to see the problems that are developing today in Solok. This platform works involving participants from various disciplines and communities, and has produced a number of art projects, books, and sub-programs, such as: Lapuak-lapuak Dikajangi (LLD) which focuses on developing relevant values in new media that are accessible to residents (2017-2020); and Kurun Niaga Project which focuses on ideas of decolonization and agricultural history in West Sumatra. The Kurun Niaga Project is conducted through archival research and narrative production that emphasizes citizen perspectives (2019-present).
