LUDWIG FORUM – AACHEN

ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
The Ludwig Forum Aachen is an international museum for contemporary art, set on the Western border of Germany in direct proximity to the Netherlands and Belgium. It is the home of significant parts of the famous Collection Peter and Irene Ludwig, that is distributed in over 20 museums globally. Beside works from post-war Germany and Western Europe, Ludwig Forum Aachen houses significant collections of US-American pop art, hyperrealism, pattern and decoration and other artistic movements from 1960s onwards. Furthermore, it is the home to contemporary art from China, to one of the most comprehensive collections of contemporary art from Cuba as well as to extensive collections of art from Soviet Russia, the former soviet republics, and from Central and Eastern Europe. Its transdisciplinary program combines solo and thematic group exhibitions with research projects, conference, screenings, music and dance festivals and other educational activities, to continuously expand and re-contextualize its collections in dialog with its public. On its grounds the museum contains 6000 square meters exhibition space on three floors, a theatre, a sculpture garden, and a large art mediation workshop with printing and pottery facilities.
