Place of Residency
Rosa Vrij is a performance maker, visual artist and artistic researcher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and a master’s degree in Theater. Her work has been shown in both the art and theater sector, at venues such as Over het IJ Festival (Amsterdam), TENT (Rotterdam), Odapark (Venray), Toneelgroep Maastricht, De Figuranten (Menen, BE) and Cultura Nova (Heerlen). She is supported by talent development platforms VIA ZUID (Limburg) and IMPACT (Rotterdam).
Performance, drawing, participatory art
Rosa Vrij makes interdisciplinary art in which the roles of the audience and the artwork are reversed. The audience is a co-creator in her search for the boundaries between the body and architecture. She gets inspired by video games and board games, and the way instructions are used to create audience interaction. Her work is rooted in intersectional feminism. It is empathetic, poetic, personal, non-hierarchical and finds its meaning between the lines. Her work activates the senses of the audience so they can meet in the here and now.
Year of participation
Can a space hold memories? Rosa will investigate this by reacting to the exhibition of the architectural photographer Machteld Schoep at Museum van Bommel van Dam.
