One programme, six art residencies, twenty-two scholarship holders and an infinite number of opportunities: In the autumn of 2021, Ringenberg, Mönchengladbach, Neuss, Venlo, Venray and Viersen are joining forces and starting with a truly unique network: the Borderland Residencies!
The initiative emerged from the considerations on the reformatting of the Ringenberg Scholarship and an analysis of the residency landscape in North Rhine-Westphalia. The BORDERLAND alliance has taken up the results: The programme not only provides financial support to help fund the scholarships, short-term artistic interventions and co-productions, but also offers a professional and transnational upgrade to scholarship holders and residencies through networking, deepening creative practice, public awareness raising and opportunities to present works throughout the EuRegion.
Field trips will bring the Borderlands closer together, through experiencing art forms unique to the EuRegion, both its intact and destroyed landscapes as well as its art hot spots. Qualification workshops will give the opportunity to further professionalize, e.g. in the field of self-positioning in the art scene or concise writing. In addition, the residency organisers will make use of their contacts: Upon request, exclusive talks with experts, curators and gallery owners can be facilitated.
Whether longstanding residencies, emerging scholarship offers or exhibition venues: In the BORDERLAND RESIDENCIES network, everyone who wants to support artists' careers can only win. Let's work together!
From September to November 2021, the first edition of BORDERLAND RESIDENCIES takes place. Lean more about BORDERLAND co-productions, field and day trips, our exclusive workshops and webinars as well as the latest news in Activities.
