Louisa Vergozisi

Louisa Vergozisi (1998) is a visual artist, photographer and filmmaker working between the Netherlands and Greece. She studied Fine Arts at the Maastricht Institute of Arts and has attended various trainings in documentary filmmaking and curating. Her multidisciplinary practice moves between photography, documentary film, installation, text and in-situ work. She also teaches storytelling through images and works as a curator. She is a member of FLUJAS Collective, winner of the Cultuurfonds Limburg Inspiration Award (2025), which supports interdisciplinary exchange and artistic development. She has collaborated with organisations including Odapark, CineSud and Isisist.project. Her work has been presented through NPOdoc, Galerie Wilms and B32 artspace, among others.

Her practice begins with observation and documentation, while questioning the supposed objectivity of documentation through the image. Through photography and documentary film, she explores how still and moving images shape and archive our understanding of places, people and events. She expands these two-dimensional works through collected objects, photographic installations and in-situ interventions.

During the Borderland Residency, Louisa will move across the Euregional borders. She will further develop her research into the concept of the ZONE, inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky’s film Stalker (1979), first developed aber documenting flood-damaged landscapes in her birthplace in Greece in 2023.
In the ZONE, places and the presence or absence of people become interconnected portraits, reflecting on alienation, landscape, time, no-man’s-land and transformation. Drawing on hydrofeminist thinking, she seeks to connect bodily experience with landscape and explore the entanglement of human, non-human and industrial environments. Through photography, film, collected material and field research, she will immerse herself in new landscapes and communities, allowing the research to unfold through encounters and leaving space for the unpredictable.
