Fedele Maura Friede folds large sheets of paper into small parcels, which she repeatedly (partially) unfolds and
draws on while exploring an environment or space. A spontaneous, specific impression that arises on site – that
which immediately imposes itself – is documented.
Fedele Maura Friede's work moves between microcosm and grand panorama. The non-linearity of the narratives
inherent in her works continuously provides new perspectives. What could previously be taken for granted – the
space, the environment: everything that only appears to be in the immediate vicinity – folds up in one area in
order to expand unexpectedly in another.
Project during the Borderland Residency
Year of participation
2025
During her stay in Viersen, Fedele Maura Friede will delve deeper into the concept of the margin. What happens
at the site where things are almost over?
